Student Leaders Visit the State Capitol

The night before our trip, we received an email from Senator Michelle Hinchey’s office offering our students the chance to attend a real-time Senate Agriculture and Food Committee meeting. We said yes immediately! The students observed Senator Hinchey as she led an eight-bill agenda, giving them a firsthand look at how government works.

After the meeting, the students visited Senator Hinchey’s office, where they asked thoughtful questions and learned more about her role. The day continued with a tour of the Capitol building and lunch, followed by a meaningful stop at the Ronald McDonald House, where students delivered collected pop tops as a donation. Students who participated in our Read-a-Thon also received special certificates.
