Saugerties Central School District Superintendent Dr. Daniel Erceg recently took a break from his daily responsibilities to visit with a group of the District’s elementary school students who meet regularly to talk about stuttering. The request came from speech pathologists Kelsa Shanley and Kathryn Mendoza who believed the students would benefit from hearing firsthand from someone in a leadership role who also experiences stuttering—someone real, not just a celebrity. Without hesitation, Dr. Erceg agreed.
Pre-K is open to children who will be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2025, and is available at no cost to District residents. The program is located at the Mt. Marion Learning Center, 744 Glasco Turnpike, Saugerties, and runs Monday through Friday from 8 AM. to 1 PM. Optional aftercare is available from 1 PM to 6 PM at a daily rate.
On May 20, Saugerties held its fourth Superintendent’s Conference Day of the year at the High School campus. The day focused on how staff can empower students to help create the ultimate Sawyer experience.
