Cahill Grade 4 Students Take Part in Three Sisters Garden Ceremony

During the special visit, students gathered in the school garden to witness a traditional ground blessing ceremony led by members of a local Indigenous-and-allies group, with support from farmers from Seed Song Farm. Students listened to stories and songs connected to the planting tradition before helping plant authentic Lenape corn seeds in the raised garden beds.

The experience gave students a hands-on connection to their New York State Native American curriculum while learning about Indigenous agricultural traditions, sustainability, and the importance of community partnerships.

Thank you to Ulster BOCES Agriculture and Natural Resources Instructor Lisa Baker, Seed Song Farm, and the local Indigenous group who helped make this memorable learning experience possible for our Cahill students.

Cahill was full of energy and creativity at this year’s “Cahill’s Got Talent” show! Thanks to the PTA’s support, students had the opportunity to share their unique talents—from singing and dancing, to magic tricks, to impressive piano and violin performances. They took the stage during the school day for their classmates and again in the evening for proud families.
